February 2022 - Nuggets - In Good Standing

New Year is always an exciting time. The end of one year and the beginning of the next. And, of course, as always, along with the celebration, it’s a time where many people set new goals for themselves. New Years resolutions. Health Clubs in January do brisk business, as do health food and diet supplements.
 
But equally helpful and very instructive is to stop at that point in time, the end of the old, and the beginning of the new and look back. Take time to reflect and evaluate performance over the past year, before plunging into the new.
 
Here at RE/MAX, Agent performance has always been an important benchmark to follow. And regardless of how you measure that performance, units sold, commission earned or gross sales volume, it’s one very good indicator of how as a salesperson you are doing.
 
Each week I release a video of topics that I feel can be important in performing well in the real estate industry. Trends, best practices, changes to the various Act’s governing our business and so on. Recently I shared an overview of sales statistics among members of our Board. What were the average sales figures? What was the median? On average how many ends did the typical Agent do in 2021? Where did you rank compared to your peers?
 
There was a lot of interest in that video and a number of Agents connected with me, curious of where they ranked.
 
That really isn’t surprising. Almost every discipline you can think of has its measuring stick for excellence. The Olympics, on right now, has its gold, silver and bronze medals. Football has the Superbowl. Hockey has the All Stars break and Stanley Cup. And of course, there is the Oscars, the Golden Globes and so on it goes.
 
RE/MAX International has rolled out it’s benchmarks for excellence as well. As a matter of fact, RE/MAX was founded on the principal of developing real estate companies built on performance excellence. There are Annual awards: Executive Club, 100% Club, Platinum and Chairman’s Club, Titan Club, Diamond Club, Pinnacle Club, etc. The bar goes higher and higher as Agents strive for personal excellence in achievement. And there are Career awards as well, recognizing cumulative performance over one’s lifetime career at RE/MAX.
 

Traditionally, here at RE/MAX Garden City we’ve held a ‘Night of the Star’, a gala event with dining and dancing, mixing and mingling, and especially awards and recognition of honour. The last year we held this event was March 2020, just before COVID shut things down. Last year we couldn’t meet to celebrate due to COVID and this year it’s likely that the event will have to be cancelled again.

 
But we can still honour our superstars. And we will. As we did last year, we’ll do the recognitions, Oscar style, via video. Already the totals and honour rolls have been tabulated. Plaques and Certificates ordered and framed. Within the next few days the video will be rolled out, winners announced and newspaper ads put in place.
 

Then, as the plaques and medallions come in from the RE/MAX Regional office, we’ll host some sort of a celebration to provide both the recognition and the opportunity to mingle. It remains to be seen whether it’s a formal gala, but whatever the format it’ll be fun and we’ll share it with you in our upcoming e-newsletters.
