The holiday season is quickly approaching, with still so many uncertainties of how we will be able to celebrate.
Our annual Christmas gift exchange, our potluck luncheon, our holiday dinner/dance party, and for the first time in 34 years, our annual RGC agent/staff photo shoot, are all put aside this year.
However, one very important tradition will still remain. Our annual “Caring and Sharing” campaign. Each year our agents & staff generously donate money, and our Broker/Owner Wayne Quirk, matches our donations dollar for dollar.
I am the collector of the donations and they usually trickle in one at a time. This year’s goal was lowered, to compensate for our unusual times. But as each pledge came in I soon realized that not only would we match last years goal… we would surpass it. $10,800 was our final amount. An incredible accomplishment from an incredible bunch of people in our Brokerage.
Now the fun begins. We then adopt local families and give them a Christmas to remember. Large baskets of food, a turkey voucher, stockings filled to the brim, clothing and those “so wanted” toys for the wee ones. A huge appreciation goes out to Maureen McIvor, an agent in our Fonthill office, that leads the charge, co-ordinating the shopping and delivery of the purchased items.
With COVID-19 impacting our social events, our travel plans, and even our family gatherings, our “Caring and Sharing” campaign and the act of giving will help us once again find a way of making Christmas special.
