Kids do it. Athletes do it. Olympians do it as well! When they have finished a challenging task. Accomplished something extraordinary. As they stand in the spotlight, they extend their arms out and wait for the applause. It’s their ‘Ta-Da’ moment. Their moment of recognition. It’s the reason movies have Oscar’s; television has Emmy’s. Olympics have gold, silver and bronze medallions. The list goes on.
It’s not the only reason we are driven to achievement of course. We strive for excellence. For outstanding accomplishment in whatever we commit ourselves to doing for a lot of great reasons. But it’s always nice when our ‘win’ is recognized.
Here at RE/MAX we recognize ‘Ta-Da’ moments for our agents once a year at our Annual Awards Gala. Because we are in the sales business, one of the easiest ways to track great milestones of accomplishment is by sales volume. Not that that’s the ultimate goal. Above all we strive for client satisfaction. Seeing someone find, buy and ultimately move into their dream home is the ultimate goal. But those realities are tougher to quantify. But in fact, they are actually tied into sales volumes, because satisfied clients tell friends and family, and that’s how business grows.
So early each spring we hold a formal dinner for our agents, spouses and guests. It’s our attempt to showcase their achievements from the previous year. To give them, amid glitz and glamour, a ‘Ta-Da’ moment. Our venue at Club Roma is the Pavilion. It’s an atrium really where, surrounded by glass walls, we feel like we are standing right in the gardens that surround us.
The award categories are set out to recognize first the sales volumes of the previous year. The thresholds of accomplishment start at two and a half million in total sales and go right up to fifty million in volume. And in each of these categories we recognize both individuals and also team achievements.
Next comes the career awards where RE/MAX International recognizes the total accumulative volume a salesperson has achieved in their entire career at RE/MAX. The first tier, known as Hall of Fame, sets out an entrance threshold of about fifty million and the award levels go right up to Circle of Legends which requires a lifetime sales volume of in excess of five hundred million dollars. That’s a lot of bricks, mortar and happy families.
Paralleling their RE/MAX annual and career awards, we also recognize and honour the accomplishments of our sister company, DLC Easy Street Mortgages. The award levels are similar but instead of sales, track mortgage volumes and mortgages placed over the mortgage agent’s previous year as well as their career. Here to, we are blessed to have outstanding people ranked in the upper echelons not just here but countrywide.
Finally, we depart from the corporately developed RE/MAX production awards and announce a few awards specific to RE/MAX Garden City Realty Inc. Based again on sales volumes we showcase the Top Five individuals here at RE/MAX Garden City Realty Inc. as well as the Top Five teams.
Last but not least, we call up the one new licensee who has achieved the highest sales levels among all those completing their first full year. That’s our ‘Rookie of the Year’. Over the years agent after agent has been recognized as Rookie of the Year and then gone on to be one of the very top professionals in the real estate industry.
Along with dinner, awards and the dance that followed, this year we had a fun photo booth which produced high quality glamour black and white photos, on the spot. Lots of fun memories for years to come.
Yes, there were a lot of ‘Ta-Da’ moments during the course of the evening. No surprise there. We have offices full of absolutely awesome agents. Once a year they step into the spotlight, but day by day they accomplish amazing things. They make dreams come true. TA-DA.
